Is your family ready to pile into your minivan rental and begin exploring Hawaii? We don’t blame you! Honolulu has so much to offer families, and we love sharing some of our favorite destinations with our car rental customers. So, before you head out, check out some of these local Honolulu attractions.

Honolulu

1. World War II Valor in the Pacific

Don’t visit Honolulu without taking time to remember and observe the site of the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The World War 11 Valor in the Pacific National Monument tells the story of the men and women who lost their lives, the Battle of Pearl Harbor, and the events that followed. You and your kids will be glad you took time to observe this important piece of Hawaiian and American World War II history.

2. Dolphin or Whale Watching

You can find many tour or boat companies throughout Honolulu that offer dolphin- or whale-watching tours. There’s nothing quite like cruising the coast of Hawaii while dolphins swim beside the boat—almost close enough for you to touch! Both kids and adults love this wildlife experience.

3. Diamond Head Summit Trail

Located right in Honolulu, the Diamond Head Summit Trail is a favorite attraction for both locals and visitors. Allow about two hours to complete the trail, which is moderate in difficulty level. This hike may not be ideal if you have tiny kids, but older kids should be able to manage just fine. Note that you will have to pay $5 per vehicle for park entrance, but beyond that, this attraction offers great views and historical exploration of Hawaii’s coastal and volcanic history.
